Yanis - Latex and Memory Foam Mattresses and Pillows - Latex and Memory Foam Mattresses and Pillows

F.A.Q.

What is the difference between latex and memory foam?

Latex and memory foam are two very different products, each with their own distinct properties and feel. It's a different feel, and only you as the customer can decide which one you prefer.

Latex is made from a rubber-based product, while memory or viscoelastic foam is derived from plastics. Latex provides "instantaneous recovery" as it contours and supports any body movement, while memory foam provides "slow recovery". With memory foam, the sleeper must wait for their body temperature to soften the foam prior to getting that true contouring support that they would experience immediately with latex.

Can a latex mattress make you uncomfortably warm in bed?

A Yanis latex mattress will conform so well to your body contours that it may provide a greater degree of insulation than any other mattress. However, Yanis latex is aerated and dissipates heat and body moisture and is unlikely to be warmer in use than any other mattress.

Are some people allergic to latex?

A very small percentage of people have an allergic response to proteins in natural latex. It is triggered by direct skin contact with rubber products such as surgical gloves and condoms. In the manufacture of Yanis latex mattress of pillow, the process of blending, foaming, washing and drying reduces the likelihood of proteins remaining in our products to negligible proportions. But if you are still concerned about allergies, please bear in mind that your body gets never in contact with the latex itself, as all our mattresses and pillows are supplied covered.

What bed bases are suitable for your mattresses?

All of our Yanis mattresses are designed to fit into standard bed frames and bases. If you use a slatted base, we recommend spaces of 25mm-63mm (1"-2,5" approx.) between slats no wider than 63mm (2,5" approx.). You should not use a solid plywood or hardwood base, as condensation will build up on the underside of the mattress due to lack of ventilation.

Will my mattress ever need turning?

No - Your Yanis mattress does not require turning over at any stage. However, you can turn it from head to toe to more evenly distribute the wear and tear.

How long will it take for a memory foam mattress to recover to its full height once unpacked?

Upon purchasing your mattress, leave unwrapped for 8-12 hours at a room temperature of approx 18єC or above. The warmer the room temperature, the quicker the mattress will recover to its full height. After 8 to 12 hours the mattress can be slept upon. Complete mattress height recovery can take up to 10 days after opening.

Does it affect the effectiveness of the memory foam being compressed and rolled up?

Not at all. You may enjoy the benefits of your new mattress almost immediately. You may notice small creases in your new mattress - these creases are normal and will normally disappear completely within a few days of opening the sealed bag.

I've heard that memory foam mattresses have a slight odour, how can I get rid of it?

Don't worry. We have used a special fragrant additive, so you will never experience this unpleasant smell with your Yanis memory foam mattress.

Is it possible to clean the mattress due to the latex or memory foam inside?

All Yanis products are firstly wrapped in a hypoallergenic cloth to prevent build up of bacteria and fungal growth. If the filling does require cleaning, use a damp cloth and pat dry with a dry towel. Clean the cover in accordance with the washing instructions contained on the specified care label on the cover.

Can I use an electric blanket with my Yanis mattress?

Yes, provided you follow the manufacturer's instructions.
